
Jim Vasil is a two-time Emmy Award-winning reporter who is proud to be part of New York’s Very Own PIX11 News as a Reporter/MMJ.
Jim is a true Jersey Boy; he was born in Trenton, raised in Bordentown and currently resides in Mercer County, though he loves New York City with all his heart.
Before most recently reporting for News 12 New Jersey, Jim spent six years as a reporter for WFMZ-TV 69 News in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he received two Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards and an AP Award for his reporting. He covered numerous historic events for 69 News, including the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol riot and the 2020 presidential election from Washington, the aftermath of devastating earthquakes in Puerto Rico and the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. He is known to cover breaking news, politics and touching feature stories.
Jim began his career as a reporter/MMJ for Spectrum News in Albany, covering Western Massachusetts and the NY Capital Region. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Radio and Television from Rider University, where he received national awards and recognition for his reporting for the University’s TV network, RUN 100.
Jim is a husband, uncle and dog dad. When he’s not reporting, Jim spends lots of time with his wife, family and friends and enjoys cars, golf, sneakers and photography. He is also a life-long, die-hard New York Giants and Yankees fan.
