Amy Yensi is an award-winning journalist. She joined the PIX11 News team in July 2022.
Most recently, the Bronx-native worked at Spectrum News NY1 for more than four years. Amy, who is of Dominican descent, also reported in Spanish at NY1 Noticias.
Before that, she worked in Baltimore. There, she earned an Emmy nomination for her coverage of the Freddie Gray riots and for profiling a good Samaritan that saved his neighbors after a house explosion.
Amy was the first reporter to get an on-camera interview with the grieving father of a Maryland sailor who was killed on a Navy destroyer.
Her first job on air was at News 12, where she started as an intern and assignment editor.
Amy earned her Master’s degree from the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism and her Bachelor’s degree in English from Hunter College.
When she’s not working, Amy likes to try new restaurants and spend time with her family. She is the proud mom to her son.
