Police shut down event selling 99-cent AriZona Iced Tea sneakers after 2 teens assaulted during frenzy

Police say at least two teenagers were assaulted during the chaos.

Around 9 a.m., a 17-year-old female was punched and struck with a bottle. A 15-year-old male was also punched. Both were transported to New York Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Two arrests were made, including a 41-year-old man, who was charged with disorderly conduct, and a 21-year-old man charged with operating a drone.

AriZona Iced Tea addressed the situation on Twitter. As of 4 p.m., the pop-up is closed:

“Thanks to our loyal fans that came out to support our partnership with Adidas. Due to overwhelming demand and safety concerns, the NYPD shutdown our pop-up. We sincerely apologize to all our fans that waited in line. We are actively working to remedy the situation.”
