Off-duty NYPD officer killed in crash on Long Island on the way to work

LYNBROOK, N.Y. — An off-duty NYPD officer was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Long Island Wednesday morning.

The officer was on his way to work when he was involved in a motor vehicle crash in the vicinity of Peninsula Boulevard and Hempstead Avenue in Lynbrook just before 7 a.m., police said.

The officer’s name has not been made public.

The other driver was not seriously injured.

Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder discussed the crash at an unrelated news conference.

On April 11, an NYPD highway officer, Marc St. Arromand, was killed in a motorcycle crash on the Laurelton Parkway in Queens as he rode to work.
