LODI, N.J. — Four apartments are destroyed after a fire tore through a residential building in New Jersey Tuesday morning.

Fire officials responded to the blaze along Home Place near Passaic Avenue in Lodi in the 6 a.m. hour.

Footage from AIR11 shows flames and heavy smoke coming from the roof of the building.

Four apartments were destroyed in the blaze, fire officials told PIX11.

Residents living in the building were self-evacuated because of working fire alarms and smoke detectors.

No injuries were reported.

A cat and a bird cage were also rescued.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
