1 dead, 2 teens injured in Brooklyn crash

EAST FLATBUSH, Brooklyn — A teen was killed and two other teens were injured in a Tuesday afternoon crash in Brooklyn.

The collision happened at Avenue D and Kings Highway around 4:30 p.m., officials said. A Mercedes Benz was traveling northbound on Kings Highway when it struck a tree on the divider that separates the main roadway from the service road.

A 19-year-old male, Claudio Poggy, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The injured victims – ages 16 and 19 –  were rushed to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, officials said. The 16-year-old victim is in critical condition with severe body trauma. The 19-year-old victim suffered minor injuries.

It’s not yet clear what caused the crash. No additional identifying information is available for the victims.
