NEW YORK -- The American Heart Association wants to raise awareness about women's heart health.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading health threat for women. But doctors say nearly 80 percent of cardiac events can be prevented.

So we wanted to share stories of survival for the entire month of February.

PIX11's Tamsen Fadal introduces us to Tabitha Ellis who had a rocky start to life, but is now thriving.
