BELMONT, the Bronx — A man has been arrested for putting a woman in a chokehold, dragging her about a block and attempted to rape her in the Bronx, police said Thursday.
Martin Estrada, 37, faces charges of attempted rape, unlawful imprisonment and attempted assault, according to police.
He is accused of attacking a 22-year-old woman while she walked in the vicinity of East 189th Street and Belmont Avenue at about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday.
Estrada allegedly dragged the victim about a block, but later fled when he was challenged by a passerby, police said.
He was arrested arrested Wednesday night.
Police did not say if Estrada was the man pictured in images released earlier by the NYPD showing a man sought in the attack.
