Police arrest alleged gunpoint robber in the Bronx

WOODSTOCK, the Bronx — The man accused of robbing a 77-year-old man at gunpoint inside a Bronx apartment Monday morning is now in police custody, officials said.

Tyler Dortch, 21, allegedly followed the victim into the elevator of an apartment near Southern Boulevard and Barretto Street, police said. When the elevator doors opened to the victim’s floor, Dortch walked out in front of the victim and  allegedly displayed a handgun, demanding money.

The victim complied, handing the man about $18 in cash, according to police.

Video surveillance shows the moment the man displayed the firearm outside the elevators before running out the building.

Dortch was charged with robbery, attempted assault, burglary, criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon.
