NEW YORK— Police say an unlicensed driver ran over a woman twice and another motorist hit a 91-year-old man in a day of at least two deadly encounters between cars and pedestrians in New York City.
The New York Police Department says a 43-year-old driver made a right turn and hit a woman crossing 81st Street in the Jackson Heights section of Queens Monday afternoon.
Police say one tire ran over the woman, and then the driver backed up, and the same tire passed over the pedestrian again.
The motorist, also a woman, has been arrested on charges including aggravated unlicensed driving.
Police say on Monday evening, 91-year-old Nabil Hakim was hit by a car on Staten Island’s Victory Boulevard.
The driver stayed at the scene. Police are investigating.
