Pedestrian in critical condition after being struck in Queens; driver in custody on suspicion of DWI

JACKSON HEIGHTS, Queens – A pedestrian is in critical condition after she was struck by a car in Queens, the NYPD said Monday.

The incident happened shortly before 1 p.m. near the intersection of 37th Avenue and 81st Street in the Jackson Heights section of Queens.

Police say the driver remained on scene and was taken into custody for suspicion of a DWI.
