JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Jersey City Friday night.
The incident happened just after 10 p.m. at 144 Orient Ave. in Jersey City.
Police responded to a report of a violent emotionally disturbed male. Whey they arrived at the location, officers tried to calm the man, but were unsuccessful, said cops.
The 36-year-old man then produced a weapon, and one police officer discharged his service weapon, striking the man in the torso, according to police.
He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
