BROWNSVILLE, Brooklyn — A 16-year-old boy was killed after he was shot in the head at a Brownsville basketball court on Friday, police said.

The incident happened at about 3:50 p.m. on Chester Street and Sutter Avenue.

Police said the victim, identified as Oluwadurotimi Oybula, also known as "Timi" went to the court after school to play basketball with his three friends.

Two men appearing to be in their early 20s fired several rounds of shots following a dispute, hitting Oybula in his head, according to authorities.

Oybula was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Police sources called Oybula an innocent bystander and said he was not an intended target.

Two shell casings were recovered from the scene.

Police are looking for two men who were seen running away from the court. No other suspect information has been released.
