RIDGEWOOD, Queens — Investigators say an apparent collision between an ATV and a bicycle on a Queens Street inflicted deadly injuries on the 65-year-old cyclist as the ATV rider fled the scene.

The New York Police Department says Eucario Xelo died Saturday of his injuries from the crash early Tuesday in the Ridgewood area.

Police are looking into what caused the crash.

Their preliminary investigation indicates the bicycle was heading west on Seneca Avenue when a group of ATVs and motorcycles approached from behind. Investigators believe the lead ATV rider hit the bicycle, knocking Xelo to the ground.

He was found unconscious in the road and hospitalized.

Xelo lived in Brooklyn.
