NEWARK, New Jersey— Two children were struck by a vehicle in New Jersey, officials told PIX11 Sunday.

Officials said shortly after 8 p.m., two pedestrians were struck in the 209 Block of First Street in Newark.

Both victims are minors, officials said.

The first victim, a 5-year-old boy, sustained a laceration over his right eye and abrasions on his leg.

The second victim, an 8-year-old girl, was treated for pain.

Both victims were transported to the hospital for treatment, police said.

The driver remained at the scene.

This cause of the incident was not immediately available and remains under investigation.
