Search suspended for woman swept away by current during high tide in Queens

BAYSWATER, Queens — Police have called off the search for a woman swept away by the current as she walked along Jamaica Bay during high tide on Sunday evening, officials said.

The woman’s husband was swimming along the shore when the 35-year-old victim was swept away, police said. Scuba divers and harbor patrol searched for the woman for several hours with no success.

No identifying information is available for the woman.
