Bicyclist in critical condition after being struck in Queens: police

ASTORIA, Queens — A woman is in critical condition after being struck by a car early Monday morning in Queens, police said.

The incident occurred about 12:20 a.m. near the intersection of 23rd Avenue and 35th Street in Astoria, police said. She was in a designated bike lane, but cycled through a red light and was hit, police said.

The 27-year-old bicyclist was taken to the hospital and was listed in critical condition.

The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police.
