Verbal bomb threat prompts evacuation of JFK terminal, officials say

QUEENS — A verbal bomb threat prompted the evacuation of a terminal at Kennedy Airport and an arrest Wednesday, according to Port Authority of New York and New Jersey officials.

A passenger allegedly made a verbal bomb threat at a TSA screening point shortly after midnight.

Terminal 4 departures were closed while the Emergency Services Unit and K-9 units responded, officials said.

The area and property belonging to the person who made the threat were swept and cleared by 2 a.m. Officials said nothing was found.

The person who made the threat was described by officials as an emotionally disturbed individual. The person was detained, and faces charges of making terroristic threats and trespassing.
