Cop jumps on moving truck to stop allegedly drunken crane driver

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. — Authorities say a police officer made a daring leap to stop a crane truck after its allegedly intoxicated driver smashed into four vehicles and sped off on the Long Island Expressway.

Suffolk County police said Brian Sinclair, 47, went about 9 miles after barreling through traffic around 6:20 p.m. Tuesday in Ronkonkoma. One car appeared to be mangled and crushed.

Police said Sinclair wouldn't stop when the crane was surrounded by police vehicles. They said he only surrendered once Officer Joseph Goss got out of his vehicle and jumped into the crane truck's cab.
