WEST PETERSBURG, Va. — An 80-year-old New Jersey woman has died and seven others have been injured in a Virginia highway crash that police attribute to drunken driving.

Virginia State Police say the two-vehicle crash occurred Sunday at 4:30 a.m. on Interstate 85 in Dinwiddie County.

Police say 29-year-old Clint Vigil of Richmond veered into the left lane and struck a car driven by 48-year-old James Allen of Westville, New Jersey.

Allen’s car hit jersey wall. Vigil’s car overturned.

Police say Vang Houn of Westville was riding in the back seat of Allen’s vehicle and died at the scene.

Vigil and four passengers in his car suffered serious injuries. Allen and his front-seat passenger also suffered serious injuries.

Vigil has been charged with driving under the influence and may face other charges.
