FLATBUSH, Brooklyn — Two people were shot in front of a row of stores on a busy stretch of Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn Friday night.
It happened just after 5 p.m. between Albermarle Road and Tilden Street.
The victims were identified as a 19-year-old male who suffered a graze wound to the head and a 62-year-old female shot in the left side of the face.
Witnesses say the victims ran into a beauty supply store for shelter.
“Two — I heard two (gunshots),” said Mohamed Yagoub, who was working the register inside Jasmin Beauty Supply Store at the time. “Loud, very loud after that heard people screaming yelling coming inside the store people scared some people crying.”
People were seen running from gunfire. Hours later, a heavy police presence was still on the street. Bullets can be seen next to evidence markers.
Officers arrested a 19-year-old man.
It's not known what led up to the shooting but it’s believed the male victim was the intended target.
PIX11 was there when police recovered a gun just a block from the scene of the shooting. It was thrown behind a construction site.
We’re still waiting for confirmation it was the weapon involved and police were looking through surveillance video.
Both victims suffered serious injuries but are expected to be OK. At last check they were in stable condition. Charges are still pending against the suspect.
