BELMONT, the Bronx — A pedestrian was killed and another was injured in a hit-and-run in the Belmont section of the Bronx on Monday.
The pedestrians were struck shortly after 5 a.m. on Third Avenue between 181st and 182nd streets, according to the FDNY.
Wally Dominguez, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second pedestrian, a 24-year-old man suffered an injury to his left ankle. He was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
Police say the unidentified driver of 2017 BMW side swiped a 2018 Acura, and struck the two pedestrians that were standing behind a parked 2001 Chevrolet, pinning them.
After rear-ending the Chevrolet, the driver and passenger of the BMW got out of the vehicle and fled on Third Ave.
Sources tell PIX11 News the incident all started as a dispute between the 27-year-old and the driver of the BMW. The two were attending a party nearby when the victim allegedly pulled a gun on the driver.
A witness told PIX11 he heard four shots and saw the victim's body on the ground. The gun was found next to the victim. Police believe the victim may have tried to shoot the driver of the BMW when he was struck.
There are no arrests at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
Friends and family honored Dominguez at a vigil Monday night.
