Pedestrian struck and killed by tractor trailer in Newark: prosecutor’s office

NEWARK, N.J. — A pedestrian was stuck and killed by a tractor trailer on Newark Saturday, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit said.

The pedestrian was hit around 2:45 p.m. on Broad Street near Division Street and was pronounced dead at the scene around 2:50 p.m., according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Fennelly.

The driver of the tractor trailer has cooperated with authorities. No charges have been filed at this time.
