Firefighter, resident hurt in Bronx blaze

Belmont, The Bronx — At least two people were injured when a fire broke out in the Bronx early Wednesday.

Around 3:58 a.m., the FDNY responded to a fire at 795 Garden St., a six-story apartment building in Belmont.

At least one civilian and one firefighter suffered minor injuries, according to FDNY.

The Red Cross has opened a reception center at a nearby school for affected residents, a spokesperson said. The center is providing food, blankets, hot beverages, health services and emotional support.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
