Retired corrections officer arrested in shooting of wife at Queens home

WOODSIDE, Queens – Police say a retired corrections officer shot his wife in the chest in their Queens home Sunday night.

Officers were called to 48-31 59th St. in the Woodside section of the borough around 8 p.m., police said.

Upon arrival, they found a 51-year-old woman shot once in the torso. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where she is expected recover.

Her husband was apprehended a short time later in the vicinity of 60th Street and Queens Blvd, police said.

The NYPD says the suspect is a retired corrections officer, but have not released his identity. Charges are pending against the man.
