Fire engulfs home in Jamaica, Queens

JAMAICA, Queens — A fire engulfed a home in Jamaica, Queens Saturday morning.

The fire started just before 9 a.m. at the 3-floor home on 115th Avenue. When firefighters arrived, the blaze had spread to all three floors of the home and to a neighboring structure, FDNY said.


The two residents smelled smoke in the building were able to evacuate the building safely before the fire spread, FDNY said.

Firefighters attacked the flames on the first floor and moved to the outside to control the blaze from the outside.

Despite the snow and rain, firefighters were able to control and extinguish the flames, FDNY said.

There were no reported injuries.
