MIDDLE ISLAND, N.Y. – Two teenagers are dead after their car ran a red light and hit a bus on Long Island.

The crash happened shortly before 4 p.m. Friday in Middle Island.

Suffolk County police say 16-year-old driver Giovanni Rivette ran a red light on Country Road 21 and hit the bus.

Rivette and one of his passengers, 19-year-old Reynaldo Pena, were pronounced dead at a hospital.

Another passenger, Tyrique Copeland, 17, was treated for minor injuries.
