Man arrested in connection with shooting of correction officer, wife in Queens home invasion

JAMAICA, Queens — A man has been arrested in connection with the shooting and attempted robbery of a correction officer and his wife last month during a home invasion, police said Saturday.

Shea Roberts, 24, has been arrested and charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Roberts allegedly forced his way into the home of correction officer Henry Wright, 58, and his wife Sharon Floyd-Wright, 52, just before 7 p.m. on Nov. 27. Police initially believed two attackers entered the home.

Wright was shot five times in the torso and Floyd-Wright was shot in the shoulder.

Floyd-Wright was able to fight back and picked up a hammer, which she used the claw end of to hit the alleged attacker in the head, police said.

Wright and his wife were taken to the hospital in critical condition .

After the incident, police were on the hunt for a light colored 2011-2015 Hyundai Elantra.
