Lockdown lifted at Corning Community College in New York

CORNING, N.Y. — Corning Community College lifted an emergency lockdown Friday afternoon about an hour after it was issued.

The lockdown was issued around 11:40 a.m. in response to a suspicious person on campus. Police conducted a building-by building search on the Spencer Hill Campus – one of three CCC campuses. Students were advised to stay where they were.

No one was hurt.

Corning has about 5,000 students across three campuses.

Corning-Painted Post High School issued a precautionary lock out in response to the situation at the college. Access to the school is being controlled.
