WILLIAMSTON, N.C. — The bodies of a mother and teenage daughter were found at the bottom of a well in North Carolina, several days after they were reported missing, WGHP reported.

According to WNCT, 40-year-old Dawn Elizabeth Ward and her 14-year-old daughter Taylor Carroll were found inside the well behind a residence in Williamston.

There was 30 feet of water in the well and authorities say it took several hours to remove the bodies.

A cause of death has not been determined. No arrests have been made.

Ward’s mother was the last person to see the two victims and said she knew something was wrong when she saw a broken window at her daughter’s mobile home, WNCT reported.

An investigation is ongoing.
