1 dead, 1 injured in Bronx high-rise apartment fire

WEST FARMS, The Bronx — One person was killed when a fire broke out in a high-rise apartment in the Bronx Saturday night.

The FDNY responded to the fire at 730 Oakland Place in the West Farms section of the borough at around 8:30 p.m.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire within 20 minutes.

When firefighters entered the apartment, they found a 73-year-old woman unconscious and unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her identity has not yet been released pending family notification.

Another person suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
