It's a tradition which goes back to the 1930s and 1940s - big band battles or cutting contests.  And it is still entertaining music lovers today as bands take part in a friendly competition of skill and showmanship.  Jazz at Lincoln Center will be home to a special night of musical artistry when  Sammy Miller & The Congregation Big Band and Evan Sherman’s Entourage Big Band take the stage.  It all goes down at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Friday, November 11th and Saturday, November 12th at The Appel Room.  For more info, go to jazz.org or watch a free live stream at jazz.org/live.
