NEW YORK – Mere hours after Donald Trump earned enough votes to become the 45th president of the United States, the business mogul and reality TV star was back on Twitter.

The president-elect wrote a unifying message directed to Americans Wednesday morning.

"Such a beautiful and important evening! The forgotten man and woman will never be forgotten again. We will all come together as never before," he posted.

Trump has been an avid user of Twitter, often using it during the account to attack opponents and critics in harsh terms.

His account did look different Wednesday. His Twitter profile now identifies him as "president-elect of the United States" and his running mate Mike Pence as "vice president-elect of the United States."
