EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — A former New Jersey trooper scored big at Sunday’s Eagles-Giants game; his team of choice took home a win and his girlfriend said yes after he asked her to marry him.

Brian Malast retired following a line of duty accident. He was only just out of the academy in October of 2005 when he was involved in a car crash while responding to an emergency call. Malast was paralyzed from the neck down.

Malast, decked out in a Giants scarf, successfully proposed to his girlfriend Julie Herb at the game Sunday. He was joined by several New Jersey State Police troopers at the game.

“He’s retired, but still a major part of the New Jersey State Police family,” said New Jersey State Police spokesman Lieutenant Brian Polite.
