Woman fatally shot in Bronx park; boyfriend expected to be charged with murder: NYPD

CONCOURSE, the Bronx — A woman is dead after being shot by her partner at a park in the Bronx Thursday evening, police say.

It happened around 9:14 p.m. at Macombs Dam Park at East 161st Street.

Police arrived to find a 45-year-old Araceles Colon with a gunshot wound to her abdomen.

She was transported by EMS to Lincoln Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Her partner, 33-year-old Jonathan Sanchez, has been arrested and on Friday police said he was expected to be charged with murder, criminal possession of a weapon, attempted criminal possession of a firearm, and prohibited use of a weapon.
