Driver charged in Murray Hill hit-and-run that injured woman

MURRAY HILL, Manhattan — A driver accused of hitting a woman and fleeing the scene in Murray Hill on Sunday has been arrested.

Police arrested Robert Schuman, 63, on Wednesday and charged him with leaving the scene of an accident and failing to yield to a pedestrian.

The victim, 60, was crossing E. 38th Street Sunday morning when she was hit by a van. The driver fled eastbound on E. 37th Street against the flow of traffic before turning onto First Avenue.

She was taken to an area hospital with a serious leg injury.
