THE BRONX – On Wednesday, you could be one of the fortunate commuters who get a free MetroCard swipe into the subway station.

It’s part of a citywide campaign called “Swipe It Forward.”

The free swipes are taking place at the 149th and Third Avenue station in the Bronx and the 125th Street and Lexington Avenue station in Harlem, as well as undisclosed locations in Brooklyn.

Advocates will swipe you in and then expect you to swipe someone else in later Wednesday.

The groups doing this want to call action to the city and get them to start offering free or low-cost MetroCards.
