6 firefighters injured in Midtown blaze: FDNY

MIDTOWN, Manhattan — A heavy fire continues to burn Sunday in the basement floor of a commercial building at 9 W. 29th Street in Midtown.

The blaze began around 1 a.m. Sunday morning, damaging at least the basement and first floor of the five story building, according to the FDNY.

Six firefighters were injured while trying to contain the fire, according to the FDNY. None of the injuries are life-threatening.

No civilians were injured.

Authorities do not yet know the cause of the fire.
