GREENWOOD, Brooklyn — A man stalked a woman to her Greenwood apartment building and sexually assaulted her in the stairwell Saturday night, police said.

Police received a call about an attempted rape about 10:30 p.m. in Greenwood. When they arrived, a 38-year-old woman said a man she didn't know followed her from the 25th Street subway station near Fourth Avenue to her apartment building.

The man continued to stalk her into the apartment building and up the stairs, grabbing her while walking from the first to second floor. The woman struggled with the man, but fell on the stairs where he then allegedly sexually assaulted her, according to police.

The man eventually fled the scene.

The woman sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention.

No arrests have been made.
