FLATLANDS, Brooklyn — The man who is accused of walking naked and attempting to rape a woman in Brooklyn in August was arrested Tuesday.

Zurry Hinds, 32, or Brooklyn, was arrested and charged with attempted rape, forcible touching, sexual abuse and public lewdness, police reported Friday.

Police first began looking for a man who was reported walking on East 52nd Street between Avenues J and I with no clothes on in mid-August.

A few days later, on Aug. 29, a woman called police saying she was attacked by a naked man. The woman was walking home near East 55th Street and Avenue J when the naked man grabbed her by the neck and threw her down. He then attempted to rape her, police said.

Nearly three months later, police released new video and a sketch of the suspect, hoping to catch the attacker.

Then on Tuesday about 8:30 a.m., officers saw a man, who they later identified as Hinds, in front of a building on Utica Avenue in Flatlands. He was holding his genitals in his hand that was exposed to the public. Hinds began running away from the officers when they started approaching him.

Officers eventually caught up with Hinds and arrested him after a brief struggle.

Hinds was then connected with the attempted rape and public lewdness reported in August.
