EAST WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn — A man and his stepson chased off a suspected attacker who allegedly tried to rape a woman in Brooklyn early Tuesday, police said.

The 27-year-old victim was walking home about 12:25 a.m. when she was attacked, police said. Todd Deas, 31, allegedly dragged the woman behind a blue van and pulled off her underwear.

A man and his stepson heard the woman scream and stepped in to help, police said. The stepson chased Deas away and flagged down officers who arrested him.

Police charged Deas with attempted rape, assault and strangulation. He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
