BROWNSVILLE, Brooklyn — One person is in custody after shots rang out near a Brooklyn high school Wednesday afternoon.

Shots were fired around 2:20 p.m., about a block away from Frederick Douglas Academy VII High School on Bristol Street in Brownsville.

The school was put on lockdown until the area was deemed safe.

Police sources say there is no known link to the school at this time.

The school has approximately 350 students enrolled.

No injuries have been reported.
