STATEN ISLAND – Community groups are taking their fight against trash to the next level.

"Where-To-Turn" asked artist Scott LoBaido to design a backboard for garbage receptacles. The bin has been placed on a test can off the Staten Island Expressway.

It will be monitored for the rest of the month. Volunteers say the area is cleaner than normal.

The program could be expanded to other problem areas. NYC Councilman Steven Matteo has funded clean-up efforts in the district along the expressway at Bradley Avenue.
