Firefighters responding to gas odor find woman fatally stabbed in Bronx home: NYPD

WAKEFIELD, Bronx– A 69-year-old woman was found stabbed and killed after firefighters discovered her body while responding to a gas leak in a Bronx home's living room, according to the NYPD.

FDNY said they were called to 886 Cranford Ave. around 9:30 p.m. Sunday following initial reports of explosives and gas odor.

When firefighters arrived, they found a woman unconscious and unresponsive with two stab wounds to her back, police said. The victim, later identified as Lilawatee Ramsaran, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities discovered no explosives at the woman's home but did find the home's oven on.

There are no arrests at this time.
