Queens apartment fire injures four people

SUNNYSIDE, Queens — Four people were injured in a Friday morning apartment fire in Queens, officials said.

The fire broke out shortly before 5 a.m. on the top floor of a 43rd Avenue apartment building, a spokesman for the FDNY said. Firefighters had put out the fire by 5:20 a.m.

One person was rushed to a burn center in critical condition, officials said. Another person injured was in serious, but stable condition.

Two firefighters were also injured and transported to Mount Sinai, officials said. One of the firefighters had serious injuries.

It is not yet clear what caused the early morning blaze.
