Conn. state police: 1 killed in fiery crash along I-95 in Westport

WESTPORT, Conn. – Connecticut State Police say one person was killed in a fiery accident involving a tanker truck and at least one other vehicle along Interstate 95 in Westport.

The crash occurred around 6 p.m. Wednesday on the southbound side of I-95 between exits 17 and 18.

The tanker truck reportedly veered off the highway, overturned and burst into flames after landing on its roof. A body was pulled from the vehicle just after 2:30 a.m. Thursday.

No word on if anyone in the other vehicle was injured in the crash. The name of the victim is unknown at this time.

Southbound lanes were reopened to traffic around 6 a.m.
