FAR ROCKAWAY, Queens — Police arrested a Queens man Thursday accused of beating a 57-year-old bodega worker into a coma.

Sherwin Benn, 32, had allegedly argued with the 57-year-old man at Rohan Deli, where the victim works, Tuesday afternoon, police sources said. Benn tried to buy a $3.25 beer, but he was 25 cents short. The victim refused to sell Benn the beer.

Benn allegedly attacked the bodega worker around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday before running off with the victim’s phone, police said.

Paramedics rushed the victim to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital with severe trauma to the head. He was transferred to North Shore Manhasset Hospital where he is in critical, but stable condition.

Police arrested Benn on Thursday and charged him with attempted murder, robbery and assault. Benn is currently awaiting arraignment.
