Group of teens sought in beating of boys in the Bronx: police

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Bronx – A group of teens beat up two boys on a Bronx street before taking off with one of their backpacks last July, police said Thursday.

It happened on a July 22, around 9:30 p.m. in front of 2318 Jerome Ave.

The NYPD said five or six males approached the victims, 15 and 16, and punched and kicked them. During the encounter, one of the attackers took the 15-year-old victim's backpack. Inside it was a necklace, sneakers and clothing.

The males are described to be between 16 to 18 years old.

Police released surveillance video of the attack.
