BAY RIDGE, Brooklyn — Video obtained exclusively by PIX11 News shows the family of Ahmad Khan Rahami being detained by FBI agents on the Belt Parkway Sunday night as the manhunt intensified to find whoever was responsible for setting off a bomb in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood and in Seaside Park at a Marines' charity run.
Rahami's family was driving along the Belt Parkway, underneath the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, when they were pulled over the FBI. Video shows multiple people being handcuffed while on the ground. No one was arrested.
Rahami was captured a day later in Linden, N.J. He'd been sleeping in the hallway of a bar when the business' owner found him and called police, initially presuming that the man was a vagrant.
But when officers arrived, they immediately recognized the 28-year-old as the man wanted for questioning in connection with multiple explosions over the weekend.
A shootout ensued when Rahami was ordered to show the officers his hands but instead allegedly pulled out a gun and opened fire. Officers shot back, striking Rahami several times. He was taken into custody and to the hospital.
