GREENPOINT, Brooklyn — They waited for what seemed like hours to catch a glimpse of movie star Bill Murray.

This weekend he was playing a different role, the proud papa and bartender at the opening weekend of his son Homer Murray's new restaurant, Greenpoint 21.

It's an upscale bar and restaurant that used to be The River Styxx. The menu features steak tartare on roasted marrow bone and a famous face behind the bar.

"I just love Bill Murray and Ground Hog Day," Sheridan Brown, a Columbia nursing student, told PIX11. "I will wait a very long time for Bill Murray."

When Bill Murray did arrive with his entourage, the 65-year-old movie star was gracious to all his fans, including this PIX11 reporter Magee Hickey.

It was an invitation only party inside this weekend, but PIX11 did find this video of Bill Murray showing off his bartending skills. He claimed to take a shot of vodka every 20 minutes.

His fans were starstruck.

"I love Bill Murray so much, even more now," an exuberant Sheridan Brown exclaimed.
